AMC has decided to follow HBO’s lead and provide some free streaming content for folks stuck at home AKA everyone. AMC Networks is now offering several programs to stream for free, including The Walking Dead, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Comedy Bang Bang, and more. So please, stay the hell home so we can flatten the curve and get beyond this current situation.
AMC Networks – which includes AMC, BBC America, IFC, SundanceTV and Sundance Now – are giving everyone a good reason to stay home: free stuff. Free is always good, and it’s especially good now, since so many of us find ourselves facing financial hardship. So even if you’re not a subscriber to any of those channels, AMC has you covered. They’re making AMC has made the first half of The Walking Dead Season 10 available for free until May 1 per Deadline.
IFC has Baroness von Sketch Show, Birthday Boys, Spoils of Babylon, Spoils Before Dying, Bunk, Food Party, and select episodes from Comedy Bang Bang and Mystery Science Theatre 3000. Sundance Now shows that will be free until April 14 include Riviera, The Restaurant, Public Enemy, and The Bureau. And BBC America will feature the entire Planet Earth collection – Planet Earth I & II, Blue Planet I & II, Frozen Planet, and Seven Worlds, One Planet. That’s a lot of planets, folks.
Regarding the move to select free content, Sarah Barnett, President of AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios, said:
“We want to join with our talent and respond to this moment in the best way that entertainment companies can – which is, to entertain people. Our We’re With You campaign is intended to give information, to offer companionship in the kind of responsive way that linear tv is uniquely able to, and we want to offer audiences the chance to have a laugh, maybe especially important at times of crisis. We also wanted to make our great content available to more viewers at a time when we are all looking for fantastic things to watch.”
AMC is also going to run new commercials that feature various AMC stars – including The Walking Dead‘s Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Better Call Saul‘s Rhea Seehorn and Giancarlo Esposito – in homemade videos. So, again: just stay home. Heck, stay home even if you don’t want to watch stuff on AMC. It’s the right thing to do.Source: Slashfilm.com
EXCLUSIVE: Grace and Frankie may have suspended production on its seventh and final season because of the coronavirus crisis, but the Emmy nominated Netflix comedy is back this week with a special live treat for fans and a spotlight on seniors in need during these troubled times.
The Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin-led series will be having an online table read this Thursday to help Meals On Wheels COVID-19 relief program, I've learned – though you can make donations right now via the link here.
While other shows have taken a similar digital approach in recent weeks, the long running Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris showrun series is adding some originality. The April 9 presentation will feature an episode from the yet unaired seventh season, as well as a live Q&A afterwards moderated by Kauffman.
Along with Oscar winner Fonda and Oscar nominee Tomlin, fellow G&F cast members Sam Waterston, Martin Sheen, June Diane Raphael, Brooklyn Decker, Baron Vaughn and Ethan Embry will be participating in the reading of the Kauffman and Morris-penned “The Fallout” episode on Thursday.
Starting at 5 PM PT/8 PM ET, the whole shindig can be seen live and direct on the Netflix is a Joke YouTube page LINK HERE on April 9.
“While we’re sitting here afraid, unsure and isolated, we wanted to come together and do some good,” Kauffman told me of the decision to take the show online in a new form and with a peek into the future.”
“All we’ve got is time on our hands and technology at our fingertips,” the Friends co-creator added as production on Season 7 was temporarily suspended late on March 12 as restrictions on large gatherings tighten in the City of Angels. “So we decided to use both of those assets to raise money for Meals on Wheels, which brings food to food-insecure and isolated seniors. They are among our most vulnerable right now and need our help.”
“Our cast is all in and super excited,” Okay Goodnight founder Kauffman also says of her superstar packed team. “And Netflix and Skydance have been particularly supportive. As far as giving the fans a peek into Season 7, we figured more people would tune in to new content and it would, hopefully, be a draw for fans of Grace and Frankie. The hope is: more eyes, more money raised for Meals on Wheels.”
Produced by Skydance Television, which launched in 2013, Grace And Frankie was one of the first original series for Netflix. Though in a pause period right now, like everyone else in Tinseltown the seventh and final season is still set to premiere next year, which will make the series the longest running comedy in the streamer's history.
As of last night, there are 6360 confirmed case of the coronavirus in L.A. County and 147 deaths....
Warning: Spoilers about this week’s The Walking Dead episode will definitely be found below.
We have seen a lot of strange things on The Walking Dead over the last 10 seasons. We’ve seen tiger attacks. We’ve seen the use of wire tie between two cars to decapitate zombies en masse. We’ve seen a woman kill herself so that her zombified form could kill an enemy. We’ve seen cannibals eat a man’s leg in front of him. We’ve seen a man kill his best friend. We’ve even seen a boy eat a gallon of chocolate pudding.
But what happened in this week’s The Walking Dead is a first, not just for the zombie series but for, like, humanity. And now we understand why this week’s episode needed a rare sexual content rating.
The bulk of this week’s episode concerned Daryl and Company’s efforts to escape the cave - and we’ll cover that fully in the episode recap - but the B-story concerned Negan and Alpha. There’s a mole Gamma among the Whisperers, and Negan knows exactly who it is. In the midseason premiere, Negan sold the mole out to Alpha, and in return, Alpha led Negan out into a secluded area in the woods. Alpha insisted that Negan face forward during the entire walk, and Negan assumed that his days were numbered. It was one of the rare moments in Negan’s time on the show where he actually looked legitimately frightened.
When Alpha asked Negan to remove his clothes, Negan actually seemed resigned to his death, and delivered what started to feel like his final words. “I made something. My name meant something.” And then Alpha asked him to turn around.
“You’re a crass man,” Alpha said, standing before him completely naked, save for a skin mask. “I reckoned you might appreciate a crass reward.”
Alpha propositioned Negan. And Negan accepted. “Are you just going to leave that mask on?” Negan asks.
“Does my true skin disturb you?” Alpha asks.
“Not at all. Weirdly the opposite,” Negan says to her.AMC
Welcome back, The Walking Dead.
Fans of The Walking Dead were dealt a curveball, albeit one that was announced and everyone had proper time to brace for, as Danai Gurira has departed the series as Michonne. But that doesn't mean we've seen the last of her in the walker-filled wasteland. In all likelihood, she will be reuniting with Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes in the upcoming Walking Dead movie.
Warning: spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead season 10 episode 13, titled What We Become. In the show's most recent entry, we followed Michonne on an emotional journey, which included flashbacks and a mission to save someone. Along the way, she found proof that Rick was still alive. With Judith's blessing, Michonne left to go find more evidence of Rick's continued existence.
With that, it feels safe to assume that the two will reunite down the road in The Walking Dead Movie. AMC previously announced that Andrew Lincoln will star in a trilogy of movies centered on Rick Grimes. It now feels beyond likely that Danai Gurira will be along for the ride as well. Scott M. Gimple, who oversees the entire Walking Dead universe, all but confirmed that in a recent interview. Here's what he had to say when asked about it.'Is it fair to assume? It's definitely fair to assume that. There might even be her own story along the way. Some of it has to do with the way we're playing around with the story right now. There's this whole new story strand opened up with her departure.'
The currently untitled Rick Grimes movie is a complete mystery at the moment. What we know for sure is AMC has teamed with Universal and intends to give at least the first installment in the planned trilogy a theatrical release. Gimple, again dancing around a firm confirmation, talked a bit more about their ambitious plans.'With the films, we definitely have plans. But even beyond the current plans, I have some ambitions. I love her and Rick together, but I love seeing her as the pure lead on her own, too. It just so happens that there's a lot of story terrain to cover. But you're right: it's ambitions. Right now, the plans have to do with the feature film.'
As far as the show goes, this leaves very few original cast members standing, with Norman Reedus' Daryl being one of them. We also know Lauren Cohan will be returning as Maggie in season 11. Elsewhere, the new spin-off World Beyond is set to debut this year as well. The Walking Dead movie does not yet have a director attached and a release date has not been set. We'll be sure to keep you posted as further details on the project are made available. This news comes to us via The Hollywood Reporter.
