Take that, Game of Thrones Starbucks cup. Little Women just one-upped the famous background prop error of the HBO fantasy series with not one, but two modern water bottles sitting in the background of Greta Gerwig‘s Oscar-nominated period piece, just waiting to steal the scene from Timothée Chalamet. Sorry, Timmy.
One of the defining elements of Gerwig’s astounding adaptation of Little Women is its detailed set design — the houses and rooms of the film set in post-Civil War America packed with objects and knick-knacks that communicate the overwhelming warmth of the film. But maybe not detailed enough.
An avid fan of Little Women spotted a modern Hydroflask and water bottle sitting in the background of the scene in the film when the March sisters storm Laurie’s Chalamet house after Amy Florence Pugh has been punished by her teacher. In the shot of Chalamet watching the energetic girls tear through his study room, you can spot the two modern objects that shouldn’t be sitting in an 1861 Massachusetts house.

The water bottles were spotted by Madelyn Rancourt, who posted the image on TikTok, where it was went viral and spread to Twitter. Rancourt would follow up with a second TikTok video showing Little Women stars Saoirse Ronan, Chalamet, and Dern discussing this very scene with Gerwig for a Vanity Fair video, with none of them appearing any the wiser.
It’s a pretty big goof on Gerwig and her crew’s part, but it’s by no means the worst prop error to show up in a major feature film or TV show.
Jill Halfpenny, Jonas Armstrong and Rupert Penry-Jones are to star in an identity thriller for British broadcaster Channel 5 from Noel Clarke and Jason Maza’s Unstoppable Film & Television.
The Drowning is the latest drama order for the ViacomCBS network, which has been aggressively ramping up its scripted slate with shows including Cold Call and Penance.
The Drowning starts when Jodie, played by Liar's Halfpenny, catches sight of Daniel, played by newcomer Cody Molko, a teenage boy, she is convinced she has found her missing son. Whether she is right or not, in that moment her spark of hope is ignited and she commits to a dangerous and transgressive path that will take her to the edge of reason. How far will she go? How far would any of us go to find a missing child?
Since losing her son eight years ago, Jodie has been rebuilding her life but when she catches sight of Daniel it threatens to up-end the life that she has carefully pieced back together. Jonas Armstrong Ripper Street plays Jason, Jodie's only sibling, the only real support she has had in her life. Always in control, he is a practising lawyer, on the cusp of a huge promotion. Cranford's Deborah Findlay plays Lynn, Jodie’s mother, with whom she has a fractious relationship. Rupert Penry-Jones Stan Lee’s Lucky Man plays his father Mark, an architect that keeps a tight rein on his emotions and on his son’s life.
Filming will take place in Dublin and the four-part drama will transmit on Channel 5 later in 2020.
The Drowning is written by Tim Dynevor Emmerdale, directed by Carolina Giametta Vera and is produced by Mary McCarthy. The executive producers are Clarke and Maza, who work on Sky's Bulletproof, Alexandra Stone, and Catriona Mckenzie. It is created by Francesca Brill Cuckoo and Luke Watson Britannia. Sebastian Cardwell serves as the Commissioning Editor for Channel 5. It is produced by Clarke and Maza's Unstoppable Film & Television in association with All3Media International.

The 2006 Oscars will forever be remembered as the infamous ceremony where “Crash” beat “Brokeback Mountain” for Best Picture. Ang Lee’s groundbreaking gay romance was the critical favorite and it won three of the eight Oscars it was nominated for that year: Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Original Score. Headlining actors Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal both earned Oscar nominations for their performances. The actors were asked to present during the 2007 Oscars telecast, but Gyllenhaal revealed in a recent interview with Another Man magazine via NME that Ledger turned down the opportunity because it would mean making jokes at the expense of the gay “Brokeback” love story.
“I mean, I remember they wanted to do an opening for the Academy Awards that year that was sort of joking about it,” Gyllenhaal said. “And Heath refused. I was sort of at the time, 'Oh, okay... whatever.' I'm always like, ‘It's all in good fun.’ And Heath said, 'It's not a joke to me — I don't want to make any jokes about it.’”
Gyllenhaal, “That's the thing I loved about Heath. He would never joke. Someone wanted to make a joke about the story or whatever, he was like, 'No. This is about love. Like, that's it, man. Like, no.'”
Ledger was nominated in the Best Actor category but lost to “Capote” star Philip Seymour Hoffman. Gyllenhaal lost to George Clooney in “Syriana” for Best Supporting Actor. “Brokeback Mountain” marked the first Oscar nominations for both actors. Ledger would go on to be nominated and win his Oscar in the Best Supporting Actor race for his role as the Joker in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight.” Ledger received the Academy Award posthumously. “Brokeback” remains Gyllenhaal’s sole Oscar nomination to date.
Gyllenhaal has previously spoken about Ledger’s disdain for “Brokeback Mountain” jokes, but this is the first time the actor has revealed his late co-star turned down the Oscars. Gyllenhaal told “Today” in July 2019 that “Brokeback” marked a pivotal moment in his career. “It opened tons of doors,” he said. “It was crazy. It was amazing. It's defined my career in different ways. [But the film] is bigger than me...It has become not ours anymore. It's the world's.”

Disney+ has been in American homes since last fall, but the House of Mouse’s streaming service is only just now starting to expand to international territories.
It’s been one week since Disney+ arrived in Europe, turning The Mandalorian into quite the sensation among viewers in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spin, Switzerland, Austria and Ireland. Now even more international markets are getting a taste of the live-action Star Wars series, with Disney+ launch in India, which was previously delayed from debuting on March 29, starting today.
Deadline has word on the India launch of Disney+ happening today. The debut of the streaming service was pushed back due to complications caused by the coronavirus pandemic, but the delay ended up not being extensive at all, which is good news for viewers in India who are anxious to start streaming.
In India, Disney’s streaming service will actually be called Disney+ Hotstar. That’s because Disney acquired Hotstar, India’s biggest streaming service, when they picked up Fox’s entertainment assets in their big merger. This will make India’s version of Disney+ significantly different from others.
Disney+ Hotstar will have three different subscription tiers for viewers to sign up for: Disney+ Hotstar VIP, Disney+ Hotstar Premium, and an ad-supported basic version of Disney+ Hotstar. Depending on your subscription tier, viewers will get access to not only Disney+ original programming and the movies of Marvel Studios, Walt Disney and Pixar Animation, but also Bollywood movies and even US shows from HBO, Fox and Showtime.The Mandalorian Launches Big on Disney+ in Europe
While Disney+ is just launching in India, it’s already comfortable across Europe after launching a week and a half ago. The service is now available in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spin, Switzerland, Austria and Ireland, and The Mandalorian is already a huge hit, based on what TV research company Parrot Analytics calls “demand expressions.”
Deadline has word from Parrot Analytics that the premiere of the first two episodes of The Mandalorian resulted in 33 million demand expressions, which comes from looking at data across social media, video streaming, photo sharing, blogging and research platforms. And that was just on March 24 when Disney+ launched in those territories. That’s not bad considering they’ve had months to pirate the series following its debut in the United States.
However, it should be noted that some demand expressions are not as valuable in measuring the impact of a television series. That’s because social media engagements aren’t indicative of engagement with a series, as in actually watching the show in question. But even so, the fact that so many people are talking about the series...
