Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars John Boyega and Oscar Isaac are teasing something on social media. Star Wars fans have been left to wonder what the cryptic video Boyega posted earlier this morning means, and there are some who believe it's the introduction of the Finn and Poe relationship. Others think these guys are getting ready to take down the coronavirus, and there's more than a few who think the two friends are just trying to entertain each other and the fans online. It's more than likely the latter.
John Boyega posted the short video on Instagram this morning with a caption that reads, 'I promise you all that I won't post any singing videos at this time but I hope this video is okay?' While we're all expecting to see Boyega come out of the bathroom and sing in the video, Oscar Isaac does instead, wearing a shirt with Finn and Poe on it. He stares into the camera and says, 'I'm ready. Let's do this.' What 'this' is remains to be seen, but Isaac has a nice bathroom.
Are these guys teasing the relationship between Finn and Poe that some Star Wars fans hoped was going to happen in the sequel trilogy? From 2015's The Force Awakens, there were a decent amount of people who felt that Lucasfilm and Disney were going to step up their LGBTQ representation on the big screen with the two male characters becoming lovers. However, by the time The Last Jedi came out, it was clear this was not in the cards for the two characters. Some still managed to hold out hope that The Rise of Skywalker would include that element.
Needless to say, it didn't happen in The Rise of Skywalker either, but it's something John Boyega and Oscar Isaac were both open and vocal about. But, this new video is probably the two actors entertaining each other on social media, while giving Star Wars fans something to smile about as mostly everyone is locked down in their homes for the foreseeable future. With the coronavirus pandemic taking hold around the world, people could use a good laugh or a good mystery, and it seems that Boyega has provided both.
In an effort to keep people entertained indoors, Disney ended up releasing The Rise of Skywalker digitally a few days early. Fans were able to dive right into the bonus features and watch the movie for the second or third time. Even though the release was just a few days before the street date, it was still a nice gesture from the studio, which is currently looking for other ways to deliver content straight to the fans, while trying to keep some money coming in at the same time. You can watch John Boyega's Instagram video starring Oscar Isaac below.
EXCLUSIVE: Ellen Wander’s LA-based sales firm Film Bridge International is launching a horror label called Film Bridge After Dark, i.e. F-BAD.
Film Bridge has picked up a slate of movies from Dallas Sonnier’s Bone Tomahawk Cinestate, owner of the Fangoria and Rebeller labels. Among the titles which will be sold internationally are Castle Freak and Porno.
The former, a re-imagining of Stuart Gordon’s 1995 film about a horrific creature lurking within the shadows of a castle, is directed by Tate Steinsiek and written by Kathy Charles. The film is set to be released in North America by RLJE and Fangoria in summer 2020.
Horror-comedy Porno is about a group of seemingly wholesome movie theatre employees in a small Christian town who discover a mysterious old film that unleashes a sex demon which tempts and terrorizes them. Keola Racela directs from a script by Matt Black and Laurence Vannicelli. Shudder and Fangoria picked the film up after SXSW 2019 and plan to release in coming months.
F-BAD has also acquired Cinestate movies Satanic Panic with Rebecca Romijn and TIFF Midnight Madness movie The Standoff At Sparrow Creek with James Badge Dale.
The label will be run by Jordan Dykstra as Managing Director. Dykstra, who has recently served as Sales Manager at Film Bridge, was also an assistant composer on It Comes At Night and co-composer on Gus Van Sant’s Restless.
Film Bridge recently completed production on horror Trick pictured by Patrick Lussier My Bloody Valentine, starring Omar Epps. Lussier made the film as an homage to his mentor, Wes Craven, with whom he collaborated as an editor on the Scream franchise. In Trick, an elusive serial killer returns to a small town each Halloween targeting high school students as his victims. RLKE released stateside.
“We’re thrilled to be establishing a partnership with Dallas Sonnier's Cinestate. We hope to build a long-term relationship with Dallas under our new banner, Film Bridge After Dark”, said Dykstra. “We love the genre. Cinestate produces uncompromised and unrelenting genre titles. As we build the division we're also actively seeking new relationships with other talented filmmakers. We're looking for projects in all stages.”
Most recently, Film Bridge International has represented and/or produced Buffaloed starring Zoey Deutch, Judy Greer, and Jai Courtney, Spinning Man starring Pierce Brosnan and Guy Pearce and Misconduct with Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins, and Josh Duhamel.
Voice actress Rachel Matthews said she decided to get tested after coming in contact with 'a confirmed case,' but doing so was difficult because tests are 'INSANELY hard to come by.'
Frozen 2 voice actress Rachel Matthews is the latest figure in Hollywood to test positive for the coronavirus.
The 26-year-old star — who voiced the character Honeymaren in Disney's animated feature — revealed the news via Instagram late Monday, saying that she has quarantined herself for the past week. "Unsure of what the next step is been getting mixed info so will keep you posted but obviously will remain in quarantine until told to do otherwise," she wrote.
Continued Matthews: "I'm feeling better, but I will be posting some info that I hope will be helpful to some."
The actress, who lives in the U.S., said that she decided to get tested after coming in contact with "a confirmed case." However, she mentioned that getting tested was difficult because tests are "INSANELY hard to come by."
"Our country is very behind, and we don't have much of a system in place," she said, adding that her symptoms included body chills, fatigue, headache, sore throat, dry cough, pain in her lungs, shortness of breath and loss of appetite.
She urged her followers to get tested if they are experiencing anything similar. "Treat yourself as if you're positive you most likely are," she wrote. "Rest, drink lots of liquids and SELF QUARANTINE."
Matthews' post comes just days after Disney+ released Frozen 2 three months early to "surprise families with some fun and joy during this challenging period."
