Disney+ has given audiences all manner of content, both original and classic, since the streaming service debuted in November 2019. Boasting over 28 million subscribers and hours of content, it's often hard to keep track of what's new on the service. This is especially pertinent with regards to their original content. Disney+ debuted with less than a handful of original series, but shows like “The Mandalorian,” “High School Musical: The Musical — The Series” and “Encore!” have garnered devout audiences and the hope is that will continue through 2020. Here's a look at every new original series set to premiere in 2020 on Disney+.

“Diary of a Future President”

“Diary of a Future President,” which premiered on January 17, follows middle-schooler Elena Cañero-Reed as she navigates the pitfalls of adolescence. The twist is that one day Elena will grow up to become President of the United States played by “Jane the Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez. The series, created by “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” writer Ilana Peña, was initially set to debut on The CW before its tween themes were deemed worthy of Disney+. The show has received a weh of positive reviews, with comparisons to old-school Disney programming like “Lizzie McGuire,” with its blend of comedy and social commentary on issues that affect young girls. The first season just concluded its first season — with Elena running for student council — and it's unknown if it'll be renewed for another, but signs point to yes.

“Shop Class”

Disney+ has been incredibly open to competition shows, greenlighting several during their launch panel at last year's D23 Expo. Hosted by Justin Long, “Shop Class” sees a group of teenage builders, aided by a teacher, build all manner of innovative things, from Free Little Libraries to skate ramps. The last team standing gets to boast the distinction of “Shop Class” Champ. Disney's game shows have regularly blended education and entertainment and “Shop Class,” which started airing on February 28th, is in the same league.

“Disney Insider”

As the synopsis says, “'Disney Insider' is a docuseries taking fans behind the curtain of The W Disney Company.” Unlike their “Imagineering Story” released last year, this focuses more on what the Company is doing now. Each episode focuses on “three unique stories that capture the magical moments and heartfelt storytelling that is Disney.” The series, which has been on since March 20, isn't as widely discussed as their others, possibly because much of it feels like synergy and corporate marketing masquerading as a series. But if you enjoy what's going on at Disney now, this is worth a watch.

“Be Our Chef”

Angela Kinsey, star of NBC's “The Office,” plays host to this Disney+ kids cooking show starting March 27. Every episode invites five families to create a series of themed Disney dishes. “Using family traditions and learned skills” the families go head-to-head with the winning team's culinary masterpiece being sold in W Disney theme parks. With the parks being shut-down worldwide due to the public heh crisis it'll be interesting to see how the winner's creations are given a chance to shine.

“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”

The first Marvel-themed original series to hit Disney+, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” takes place after the events of “Endgame” with the Falcon Anthony Mackie teaming up with Bucky Barnes Sebastian Stan to engage in international adventures. Daniel Brühl will reprise his role as Baron Helmut Zemo, while Emily VanCamp returns as Sharon Carter; Wyatt Russell a militaristic take on Captain America, formulated by the U.S. government, named John Walker.

The show received a splashy introduction at last year's D23 Expo last year, with audiences' receiving their first look at footage during the Super Bowl in February. The series started filming in October, continuing into February in various foreign countries. However, filming was suspended at the beginning of March due to the global pandemic. It's currently unclear how many episodes remained to be filmed though Disney has not announced a delay in its August 2020 release.

“WandaVision”

Another collaboration between Disney and Marvel, “WandaVision” follows Wanda Maximoff Elizabeth Olsen after the events of “Endgame” and the fantastical reality she's created with her lover, Vision Paul Bettany. The two traverse the landscape of various television shows, from 1950s black-and-white sitcoms to more modern iterations, questioning whether their reality is true or not. The series is set to bring back Kat Dennings' Darcy and Randall Park's Jimmy Woo, as well as introduce Kathyrn Hahn as a “nosey neighbor” and Teyonah Parris as a grown-up version of Monica Rambeau.

Like “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” the series unveiled its first looks during the Super Bowl, complete with showing off Wanda in her original comic book costume. The series has been filming since November, and though there was a wrap party at the beginning of March the series was announced as shutting down mid-month due to the global pandemic. It's unclear how much of the six episodes were completed or if it will affect the current December 2020 release date.

“Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge”

Not much is known about this “Star Wars”-themed gameshow announced to stream exclusively on Disney+, short of an article posted to the official “Star Wars” website. Hosted by Jar Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best, the series “will test young contestants' abilities in the core Jedi principles of strength, knowledge, and bravery as they face thrilling and fun obstacles in an attempt to achieve the rank of Jedi Knight!” The series is set for an unknown date in fall of 2020.

“Chip 'n' Dale: The Series”

Created in 1943 there aren't two bigger rascals in the W Disney animated cavalcade of characters than chipmunk team, Chip and Dale. The pair have been in nearly 40 shorts and led their own series, “Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers” for three seasons starting in 1989.

There isn't much known about “Chip 'n' Dale: The Series,” short of it being 39 episodes, each seven minutes in length. Much like their original short series, Chip and Dale will be nonverbal characters. These are meant to debut sometime in 2020.

“Muppets Now”

Disney and the Muppets have struggled to find common ground since the Jim Henson creations were purchased by the House of Mouse back in 2004. In 2015 ABC aired “The Muppets,” a situational office sitcom that struggled to cater to both family audiences' and those seeking more adult humor. The show was cancelled in 2016 after a series of internal struggles.

Since then the Muppets have been on YouTube videos and in various promotional ads, as well as starring in two feature films. A new series was meant to debut on Disney+ helmed by Josh Gad and Josh Horowitz. But, like “The Muppets,” struggles about the direction of the series saw it go unannounced at D23 and was scrapped in September of 2019.

There's no word on what exactly “Muppets Now” is other than being a series of shorts starring the characters. At D23 Expo all audiences' saw was a glimpse of Kermit the Frog admitting he couldn't talk about anything. Filming took place over six days in June of 2019 and the show is meant to air sometime in 2020.

“Untitled Lizzie McGuire Revival”

“Lizzie McGuire” was a landmark series for the Disney Channel. Airing in 2001 it was the first major series to draw in adolescent audiences, blending discussions of femininity with humor and making a star of actress Hilary Duff. The series ran for 65 episodes, culminating with a feature film 2003.

When Disney+ announced their new slate of original series the first out the gate was a revival of “Lizzie McGuire” with Duff and original series showrunner Terri Minsky returning. The show was going to show us what Lizzie's life was like in her 30's. After the first two episodes were filmed Minsky departed the series, claiming Disney refused to allow Lizzie McGuire to be a realistic woman. She begged the company to allow the show to air on Hulu where more adult material could be discussed. Duff similarily hinted that the show wasn't family friendly enough for Disney+.

The company announced they would be seeking a new showrunner but there's been no update. It's unclear if the show is being scrapped entirely or if it will make its stated 2020 release date at all.
